In this state of total consumerism – which is to say a state of helpless dependence on things and services and ideas and motives that we have forgotten how to provide ourselves – all meaningful contact between ourselves and the earth is broken.
– Wendell Berry
Wendell Berry’s warning is prescient. The weight of our screen-based technologies draws us away both from noticing our bodies and understanding the role the land plays in helping recognise the interdependences of being on this planet. These technologies mostly keep us inside human-built structures and outside of our bodies. Yet inhabiting our bodies while being in the land runs deep in our evolutionary history as a species. In Series 3 of C-DaRE invites … we explore how our human bodies are nourished by different ways of understanding, imagining and being with the land.
